We’re headed to Market!
Horsham Farmers Market Preview Day is Sunday May 15 10a-1p
Starting very soon you’ll find us at Market on Sundays, too!
We are delighted to share that we are adding another market for this season! In addition to our usual spot at Perkasie Farmers Market every summer Saturday starting June 4, we are also popping up each Sunday at Horsham Farmers Market. Our Horsham market starts a bit later on June 12, but in the meantime we will be on site for the Preview Market this Sunday May 15 from 10a-1p. Stop by, say hi!
All the green things are growing well!
This week our leafy greens are looking fine! Pick up some spicy arugula and toss it with pasta and pecorino for a tasty spring Cacio e Pepe, or put together an easy weekend quiche with a bit of spinach. Of course, for the salad set we’ve got our lettuce blend, ready for dressing any number of ways. Much like the rest of the cruciferous family, broccoli rabe is a perfect choice for roasting - or perhaps even throwing on the grill if you’re feeling bold.
Fresh herbs are perfect for punching up any dish and we’ve got three spring classics on offer this week - dill, parsley and early cilantro. A bit of cilantro-lime chicken might be the ticket for grilling (or baking) this week, or perhaps you’ll give pesto a northern twist by trying out a lemon-dill pesto on your next seafood dinner. What to do with parsley - other than soup, chimichurri, any number of pasta favorites or even a salad on their own? We will always recommend tabbouleh - especially if you pick up some of our scallions to finish it.
We’re also happy to be harvesting our microgreens this week as well - especially the first mixed purple and green basil which is a sweet, tender treat for tossing into salad or topping a panini. Our radish microgreens have just a bit of spice, and a delightful crunch, which make them a great fit for finishing a bowl of ramen or sprinkling into salad. Tender kale microgreens are a great mild choice for blending into weekday smoothies or topping fancy toast for weekend brunch.
Flowers for now, flowers for later
This is our final week for fresh cut tulip bouquets - it’s been a treat to share these throughout the month of May but their season is coming to a close. Soon we’ll have field flowers to share, but these will be our last fresh blooms for a little while while those get growing. Thank you so much for supporting our tulip sales this season, it has been a joy to share them with you!
We are now very much in planting season for dahlia tubers now that the ground is warming and the heavy wet weather of spring seems to be passing. We will be offering a selection of our favorite varieties and few mystery mixed bags of tubers at Market this weekend.
We’re just getting growing for the year and we’re so happy to have you along with us.
Thank you for joining us this season!
Stay well.
Regards,
Rosemary + Pete
