Spring greens and so many blooms!
Mother’s Day weekend means plenty of flowers - and greens, too!
Mother’s Day Flowers - and where to find them
While we’re planning to have the stand open for grab + go bouquets this weekend, we are encouraging preorders for our wrapped bouquets - especially if you’d like a Friday or Sunday pickup. Our Self-Serve Farmstand will be open for grab + go bouquets on Saturday 10a-5p and again on Sunday 10a-3p as long as supply lasts.
We are delighted to be in partnership with two wonderful local businesses this weekend as well!
You can find our flowers on display at Walnut Street Pottery for their 2nd Annual Mother’s Day sale on Walnut Street in Perkasie. The first ten folks who spend $120 or more on their gorgeous handmade wares will be rewarded with the added perk of fresh tulips to take home! We have a number of Walnut Street Pottery pieces at home and have been known to gift them often - their sidewalk sale is not to be missed even if the weather carries a few clouds this weekend.
If you’re on the hunt for something more snackable for mom this weekend, head up to gourmet grocer Full Earth Goods located in the Trolley Barn Public Market in Quakertown where you’ll find our bouquets alongside other local goods and healthful foods. Full Earth Goods is a rare find for rare finds like goat milk caramel, handmade homegoods and locally-made prepared foods from Cafe Santosha. Perhaps you can pick up some Lancaster-grown herbal tea to pair with that mug from Walnut St. Pottery? Or grab some quick, sensible snacks and sips for a midday picnic. You do you.
Delightful Dahlias
While the weather is just about ready for planting we are still offering dahlias tubers to brighten up your summer garden. These beautiful blooms are a delight to grow for filling vases or simply enjoying in the garden; they make great statement plants and can be container-grown in limited space.
And we can’t forget the greens!
Herbs and salad greens are growing strong with our mild spring. This week we are offering arugula alongside our lettuce blend and a few favorite herbs, too.
A quick arugula pesto is always a great choice for topping pasta or adding some zip to pizza - homemade or otherwise. Our pick for herb recipes for this weekend is a dill and scallion feta salad - this recipe from our recipe archives is quick to prep and open to substitutions; swap in the scallions for red onion and you’ll have a great salad-topper or snack. If you are unfamiliar with broccoli raab, have a look through this Bon Appetit slideshow for some inspo to get to know this delicious spring green.
Thank you for joining us this season!
Stay well.
Regards,
Rosemary + Pete
