Two weeks remain this season
and we’ve got a great giveaway to end the year!
Right up top we giveaway to chat about - scroll on down for the essential veggie info.
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and we are going to use our last two weeks at Market to share about a local organization making a difference in our community. Laurel House is a comprehensive agency operating in Montgomery County, offering shelter and outreach services to individuals and families in crisis as well as educational resources to schools and youth programs. Laurel House is notable for their inclusive programing, robust teen outreach and compassionate crisis intervention & safe haven resources.
To bring some attention to their work and raise some funds for support, we’re running a giveaway this week and next with final prizes given at our final Market of this season on October 30. We’ll be doing a drawing for several prizes, from a honey and beeswrap bundle to a handcrafted floral wreath to a 2022 Market Shopper Full Season Share. Details are up on our Updates Page and we’ll share more on social media throughout the week.
Our website will be stocked this evening at 6pm for pickup at Perkasie Farmers Market this Saturday. Not all items included in this preview will be available for pre-order and we may have a few extra items at market. As always, you’ll find all the good veggies and location info at wrockhill.com/shop.
Great greens and aromatic herbs
In addition to our usual curly kale, we’ll have tender baby kale blend for your salad bowl, perfect paired with lettuce blend or on its own. Rounding out the salad set are bel fiore radicchio - a colorful green that also grills well - and microgreens - radish, mustard mix and basil.
As far as full-size herbs, we have soup-essential parsley, bright dill and crowd-favorite cilantro. Is this the perfect weekend to whip up some chimichurri and fire up the grill for dinner, before fall finally catches us? Yes.
A Duo of Celeries and all the roots and alliums
Alongside our much-adored celery root a.k.a. Celeriac is our first round of celery - the mirepoix essential for any soup and a lunchbox staple. With that in mind, of course we’re bringing carrots to stir into that soup pot or enjoy as a snack with, or whipped in to, hummus.
In addition to our usual garlic, this week we’ll have a limited supply of seed garlic. These top-size cloves are ready to plant now for an early summer harvest next year. We will have scallions as well, perfect for a batch of crispy scallion pancakes.
Autumn favorites
This is our first week bringing pumpkins and winter squash to fill your plate or decorate your table and our second week with dried floral wreaths and broom corn bundles. Fresh blooms featured in our mixed bouquets this week include our near-final dahlias and first fancy chrysanthemums.
Thank you for your support + feedback.
We appreciate your taking on this season with us and we look forward to seeing you at Market this weekend!
Stay well.
Regards,
Rosemary + Pete
